Hebei Director Goes to Store After Drinking, Smashes and Injures Shop Owner, Then Hits Someone with a Car

Recently, a video has been circulating on the internet alleging that a director in Xingtai Renze District of Hebei Province drove drunk into a shop, vandalized it, injured the shop owner, and hit someone.

On February 17th, a netizen posted a video stating that Yang, the director of the Finance Bureau of Renze Economic Development Zone in Xingtai, was drunk driving, entered a clothing store and smashed things, causing injuries to the shop owner and hitting multiple people who had to be hospitalized.

According to a report by the Xiaoxiang Morning Post, the brother-in-law of the shop owner, Miss Da, said that on the night of the incident, Yang, who was intoxicated, caused a commotion in the clothing store. Miss Da’s home is located behind the store, and Yang kicked open their front door, injuring Miss Da. Miss Da called her husband, Mr. Yang, who returned and was also assaulted by Yang. Finally, a neighbor of Miss Da tried to hold Yang back from leaving and was hit by Yang’s car.

“We don’t know why this happened out of the blue. Our store was vandalized for no apparent reason,” said Miss Da’s brother-in-law.

On February 20th, local authorities officially reported that the man in the video is Yang, the director of the Finance Bureau of Renze Economic Development Zone. The store involved is owned by his parents and is currently operated by his brother, Yang, and his sister-in-law, Miss Da. Due to family conflicts, on the evening of February 17th, Yang drove drunk to the store, had a dispute with Miss Da, and in a fit of rage, damaged items in the store.

Yang has been suspended from his duties, and the District Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has initiated an investigation.

After this incident was reported, it sparked discussions among the public. Some netizens pointed out that as the individual involved is an official, the incident has attracted significant attention. Some questioned how a public official who cannot even handle family matters properly can be a leader in their unit.
