Recently, in Nanning, Guangxi, a private car accelerated and hit a traffic policeman while trying to evade a checkpoint set up at an intersection on Chang’an Road.
On the night of January 18th, a video circulated online showing a blue Mercedes-Benz encountering a police checkpoint for drunk driving on Chang’an Road in Nanning. The driver abruptly stepped on the accelerator, knocking down a traffic policeman who attempted to stop them, and then crashed into several other cars before fleeing the scene. The situation was terrifying.
Upon the release of the video, netizens began discussing the incident. Some questioned why, if the driver could afford a Mercedes-Benz, they couldn’t hire a designated driver.
The driver responsible for the incident was intercepted at the next checkpoint. According to an informed source, the driver had just returned from Shenzhen to Nanning, had recently purchased the Mercedes-Benz, and had been drinking at a gathering that night. With the Chinese New Year approaching, he did not want to be taken to the police station, hence the decision to flee.
According to reports by The Paper, the relevant personnel from the Nanning traffic police department revealed that the checkpoint for drunk driving was operated by Nanning Traffic Police Second Squadron, and the injured traffic policeman also belonged to the same squadron. They mentioned that they are currently investigating and handling the case.
