Zhang Wei, the Director of the Organization Department of the Suizhou City Committee of the Communist Party, was reportedly injured by an official with the last name Jie from a certain bureau in the city. The incident escalated to the point where Jie was detained for 15 days.
According to a report by the Xingdao Daily on January 14, veteran journalist Chu Chaoxin cited reliable sources to reveal the details of the altercation that took place on December 31. Zhang Wei, along with the Deputy Director and a cadre from the Organization Department of the city committee, went to have a discussion with Jie, an official from the bureau.
During the discussion, Jie became agitated, used strong language, and even physically harmed Zhang Wei by smashing a glass from his possession on him. Following the incident, Jie was summoned for questioning by the local public security bureau, where he admitted to the illegal behavior of threatening and assaulting others.
Medical assessment indicated that Zhang Wei suffered minor injuries. Jie was administratively detained for 15 days and fined 500 RMB, with the detention taking place at the Suizhou City Detention Center.
It was reported that Jie holds the position of a department-level official. This incident, among others involving Communist Party officials behaving violently in public, has become a topic of discussion among the public, reflecting a division within the Communist Party’s leadership.

There have been previous incidents such as a shooting by police officer Xu Moying in Xuwenzhen County Public Security Bureau, Zhanjiang City, Guangdong, injuring another officer before committing suicide on February 7, 2021.
Such incidents shed light on the increasing turmoil within the Communist Party.
In a separate incident on April 6, 2016, in Taishan Temple Town, Ningshan County, Ankang City, Shaanxi Province, a government official physically assaulted a subordinate over a WeChat red envelope.
