New York State announced on January 7th that as part of the transition process for the Consumer-Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), also known as the “Family Care” program, current program participants will need to re-register with Public Partnerships LLC (PPL) effective immediately to ensure continued access to benefits.
The “Family Care” program allows elderly or disabled individuals in need of home care to hire family members as caregivers, with costs covered by Medicaid, making it a popular choice among the public. However, it has long been subject to abuse. Governor Hochul proposed a reform plan in the 2025 fiscal budget, designating Public Partnerships LLC and over 30 community home care agencies to form a collaborative alliance to strengthen the management of the “Family Care” program and ensure participants receive the high-quality care they need.
Governor Hochul announced on January 7th that Public Partnerships LLC is collaborating with 11 Independent Living Centers (ILC) to establish a better and stronger “Family Care” system. The New York State Department of Health also announced that as part of the transition process for the “Family Care” program, current participants can begin re-registering through one of the following methods to ensure a successful transition by April 1:
Option 1: Call the PPL Support Center at 1-833-247-5346 or TTY (Text Telephone) at 1-833-204-9042, where PPL team members will assist with the registration process.
Option 2: Register on the PPL website at the link: pplfirst.com/cdpap
