Taiwanese artist Wu Qilong recently withdrew from his only remaining company, Zhenjiang Love Electric Smart Energy Co., Ltd., following the deregistration of Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Co., Ltd., and Jiujiang Longzhi Xin Film and Television Culture Studio (Limited Partnership).
According to Tianyancha App, Zhenjiang Love Electric Smart Energy Co., Ltd. recently underwent a commercial change, with original shareholder Wu Qilong withdrawing and resigning from the position of director. The company was established in April 2018 with a registered capital of 35 million RMB, and its business scope includes the research, development, production, sales, installation, commissioning, technical consultation, and technical services of electrical, electronic, and power equipment. The company is now fully owned by Jiangsu Intelligent Power Scientific Research Institute Co., Ltd.
Chinese media have emphasized that it is noteworthy that both companies associated with Wu Qilong have been deregistered, namely Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Co., Ltd., and Jiujiang Longzhi Xin Film and Television Culture Studio (Limited Partnership).
On December 18, 2024, Jiemian News disclosed rumors of Wu Qilong’s divorce from Liu Shishi, stating, “Three companies associated with Wu Qilong are registered under his name, with only ‘Zhenjiang Love Electric Smart Energy Co., Ltd.’ remaining, while the others ‘Jiangsu Straw Bear Culture Media Co., Ltd.’ and ‘Jiujiang Longzhi Xin Film and Television Culture Studio (Limited Partnership)’ have been deregistered.”
At that time, rumors of Liu Shishi and Wu Qilong’s marital status caused a stir, with well-known entertainment reporter Wang Dafa revealing during a live broadcast that the couple had divorced. However, after Liu Shishi’s side issued a stern statement through their lawyers to counter the divorce rumors, the controversy temporarily subsided. Unexpectedly, just half a month later, Wu Qilong withdrew from his only remaining company, Zhenjiang Love Electric Smart Energy Co., Ltd.
54-year-old Wu Qilong married mainland Chinese actress Liu Shishi in 2015, who is 17 years younger than him. He founded Beijing Straw Bear Film and Television in 2003, which covers areas such as artist management, television, film, and animation. In 2012, he established Beijing Straw Bear Technology Co., Ltd., which focuses on developing online games. In 2016, Storm Group planned to acquire 60% of Straw Bear Entertainment for 1.08 billion RMB. At that time, Wu Qilong and Liu Shishi were celebrating their wedding, and the “1 billion RMB bride price” became a hot topic.
However, due to factors such as celebrity shareholders and excessive premium, the acquisition deal sparked significant controversy and was eventually rejected by the China Securities Regulatory Commission. Subsequently, in late 2016, Straw Bear partnered with Hainan Alibaba Entertainment Industry Fund (Limited Partnership), but Alibaba Entertainment also chose to withdraw two years later. Despite escaping various controversies after the Fan Bingbing incident, Straw Bear, founded in June 2014, has faced multiple setbacks in fundraising.
Born in Taipei, Wu Qilong made his debut in Taiwan as a member of the Little Tigers in 1988, then transitioned to the mainland Chinese film and television industry around 2000. He met Liu Shishi thanks to the historical drama “Scarlet Heart” in 2012. In December 2017, Wu Qilong expressed his desire to return to Taiwan to support “local industries” during an event in Taiwan. He stated that although mainland China has a more substantial production scale, Taiwan excels in creativity.
