Late on the night of December 30th, the Party Secretary of a town in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, sent inappropriate chat messages to a work group, which was quickly disbanded by the group’s administrator, sparking widespread attention and discussion among netizens. Local authorities announced on December 31st that the secretary involved had been removed from office and was under investigation.
Screenshots circulating online showed a work group of 156 people where, on the night of December 30th between 9 and 10 pm, members were liking the messages before. At 10:23 pm, a person identified as “Secretary Gong” posted a message in the group saying, “Let me see what you look like when you’re bathing, my dear”, accompanied by two emojis.
After this message was posted, no one responded in the group, and six minutes later, the group administrator hastily disbanded the chat.
Disbanding the group only prevented members from discussing the incident, but everyone in the group still saw the previous messages.
Subsequently, screenshots of the incident were circulated online by multiple individuals. From the screenshots, it was noted that although the content was the same, the names used to refer to the person posting the inappropriate content varied. In one screenshot, the name used was “Gong Moyu”, which is the actual name of “Secretary Gong”.
Many netizens were curious about who Secretary Gong’s message was directed towards, and the incident has garnered widespread attention.
Netizens expressed concerns about who the message was intended for and whether there were issues with Secretary Gong’s personal behavior that need to be investigated by the disciplinary committee.
Public information indicates that on the afternoon of December 26th, Secretary Gong had conducted an inspection visit for work.
On the evening of December 31st, 2024, the Wujin District of Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province, announced that recently, the former Party Secretary of Huang Town in Wujin District, Gong Xinyu, had made inappropriate remarks in a WeChat group, causing negative social impact. As a result, he was relieved of his responsibilities and placed under investigation.
