Students made to sign pledge stating suicide not related to school, Guangdong school criticized for evading responsibility.

In mainland China, under the Communist Party’s “party-led education” system, there has been a rise in campus bullying and incidents of self-harm and suicide. In an attempt to shift responsibility, a middle school in Guangdong Province had minors sign a commitment letter stating that self-harm and suicide were not related to the school, sparking public condemnation.

On December 25th, netizens exposed through social media that Shuizhai Middle School in Wuhua County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, required all students to sign a “commitment letter.” The letter stated, “If I engage in self-harm or suicide, it is not related to the school. Myself, parents, or legal guardians will not claim any losses or compensation from the school and its staff for any reason, nor will we disrupt the school’s normal teaching order.”

The revelation of the requirement for students to sign a “non-suicide commitment letter” at Shuizhai Middle School in Wuhua County triggered heated discussions among netizens.

Some netizens commented, “When students face life challenges and seek help, the school heartlessly pushes the children into the depths of despair while absolving themselves of any responsibility. Is this still a school for teaching and nurturing students? Or are they noble engineers of the human soul? No, they are demons, ghosts of life-robbing spirits, cursed ghosts of hell!”

Others believed that “this commitment letter would be useless if something goes wrong. If a teacher drives a student to death, do you think holding this letter of commitment will absolve you?” “The emergence of such commitment letters indicates that the phenomenon of student suicides in certain areas has become alarming.”

An opinion article published by NetEase stated that clearly, the so-called theme class meeting under the guise of “cherishing life” was essentially a carefully planned “passing the buck” meeting by the school to protect itself and distance itself from future student suicides.

Facing public controversy, the Wuhua County government’s public account, “Wuhua Bulletin,” issued a notice on the 25th stating that they had criticized the school’s responsible parties.

According to the official website of Wuhua County government, Shuizhai Middle School is the only national demonstration ordinary high school in Wuhua County, implementing a fully enclosed management system.

Under the Communist brainwashing education, incidents of bullying in Chinese schools have been severe in recent years, leading to frequent student suicides and attempts. In response to parents’ inquiries, the Chinese Communist Party’s education department and schools often resort to shifting blame, with the aforementioned “non-suicide commitment letter” being one of their coping mechanisms.

In October 2022, Hu Xinyu, a freshman at Zhiyuan Middle School in Qianshan County, Jiangxi Province, went missing on campus. After being missing for 106 days, authorities found Hu Xinyu’s body and determined that he had died by hanging himself. Due to the lack of mechanisms for seeking the truth, public opinion widely expresses extreme distrust toward the official narrative; the official explanation is met with great skepticism. This case highlights issues related to education and even the clandestine operation of organ trafficking.

In order to divert public attention, the Chinese Communist authorities vigorously promoted the narrative that Hu Xinyu had committed suicide and launched a nationwide initiative on supposed suicide prevention for students, prompting questioning and condemnation from students’ parents as schools across the country began to require students to sign “non-suicide commitment letters.”
