A family of three, including a pregnant woman, crashed into the Songhua River in Changchun.

On December 19th, a tragic incident occurred in Changchun, Jilin, where a private car carrying a family of three, including a pregnant woman, plunged into the Songhua River.

According to reports from Cover News, the car drove directly from the icy surface into the river as part of the Songhua River had not frozen. Rescue and salvage operations are currently ongoing.

A worker informed Red Star News that initial information indicates there were three people in the car – a mother, her son, and daughter-in-law, who is four months pregnant.

The news of this incident has sparked widespread concern online. Many netizens have expressed their thoughts, questioning how locals could be unaware of the partially unfrozen river due to the relatively warm winter this year. Some commented on the dangers of driving on ice, with incidents like this reported annually. Others mentioned the difficulties of opening car doors after a vehicle submerges in water, even for those who know how to swim.

Despite acknowledging the slim chances of a positive outcome, there are calls for a miracle in this heartbreaking situation.
