Congressional DOGE Committee Introduces Bill to Reallocate 30% of DC Employees.

The leaders of the Senate DOGE Caucus in the United States have announced plans to address the issue of federal workforce concentration in the Washington, D.C. area by relocating nearly one-third of the staff to other locations.

Led by Republican Senator Joni Ernst from Iowa, the Senate DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency) Caucus aims to combat entrenched bureaucracy, reduce expenses, and restore Washington to a state where it works for the American people.

According to Fox News, Ernst is advancing a bill called the “Decentralizing and Re-organizing Agency Infrastructure Nationwide To Harness Efficient Services, Workforce Administration, and Management Practices Act.”

This legislation would authorize the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to move 30% of federal agency employees to locations outside the D.C. area, with the remaining federal employees in the capital required to work in the office.

Ernst also stated that OMB would be tasked with selling government office space vacated as a result of this relocation. The senator has long been investigating federal government agencies and projects, as well as what she perceives as wasteful spending.

In the House of Representatives, complementary legislation is being introduced by Aaron Bean, co-leader of the Delivering Outstanding Government Efficiency, DOGE Caucus.

The Republican congressman from Florida stated in a release, “The swamp in Crazy Town is deep and thick, and I’m here to drain it. It’s time to remind Washington that our duty is to serve the American people. I am honored to work alongside Senator Ernst to ensure that the government serves the people, not the other way around.”

Following President Trump’s election victory, it was announced that Tesla CEO Elon Musk and former presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy would co-lead the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) aimed at eliminating government waste.

Subsequently, Republicans in both chambers have begun introducing a series of bills to fulfill the department’s mission.
