Two men arrested for dangerous drone operation near Boston Airport

On December 16, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, the police arrested two men on Saturday night (December 14) on charges of illegal intrusion. The suspects were apprehended for engaging in “dangerous drone operations” in close proximity to Logan International Airport.

According to a statement from the Boston police, around 4:30 pm on Saturday, an officer detected a “drone system” dangerously close to Boston’s Logan International Airport.

The police utilized advanced drone monitoring technology to determine the drone’s location, flight history, and the whereabouts of its operators.

Subsequently, law enforcement officers proceeded to an abandoned medical facility where three suspects operating drones attempted to flee on foot.

The authorities arrested 42-year-old Robert Duffy and 32-year-old Jeremy Folcik on charges of illegal intrusion, with the possibility of facing additional charges. Another suspect fled on a small boat and is currently being pursued by the police.

In a statement, the police revealed that a drone was found in Duffy’s backpack.

The incident comes at a time when the frequent discovery of mysterious drones in the northeastern United States, particularly in New Jersey, has raised considerable concerns regarding airspace and national security. Many, including national leaders and local residents, are worried about the safety of airspace and national security. President-elect Trump and Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut have called for the potential downing of unidentified drones appearing over sensitive areas when necessary.
