Senior Official of the Chinese Communist Party’s General Administration of Sport, Yuan Haoran, Dismissed

Recently, the resume and related information of Yuan Haoran, a deputy hall-level official of the Chinese State General Administration of Sports, have been removed from the official website, raising suspicions of being dismissed from his position. Earlier, he came under investigation by authorities for posting about interpreting the issue of swimmers and “stimulants” during the Paris Olympics, but the results of the investigation have not been made public yet.

The name of Yuan Haoran, deputy director of the Cycling and Fencing Sports Management Center of the Chinese State General Administration of Sports, has quietly disappeared from the leadership column on the official website, and his related information cannot be found on the webpage. It was revealed by netizens that Yuan Haoran has been relieved of his duties and demoted to a deputy department-level official.

During the Paris Olympics in August this year, a Weibo account named “Mixed Swimming” posted, “Yesterday a colleague from Beijing told me about the online rumors that after swimming competitions, the white athletes all have pink faces. I jokingly said, maybe it’s due to some pay-per-view video broadcasts being biased in color? As a result, I got criticized.”

He mentioned that he was sitting closest to the swimming pool and didn’t really notice it himself. After comparing some official photos taken, he didn’t find the athletes as pink as in the screenshots circulating online. He analyzed three possible situations that could lead to this, rather than attributing it to the use of stimulant drugs.

This post angered some internet users, leading them to uncover that the “Mixed Swimming” account belonged to Yuan Haoran, deputy director of the Cycling and Fencing Sports Management Center of the Chinese State General Administration of Sports. Yuan Haoran’s Weibo account was subsequently banned by the platform.

The head of the Sports Administration responded to the situation, stating that they are aware of the relevant circumstances and have immediately commenced an investigation into the matter.
