In the United States, a nurse caring for terminally ill patients reported seeing a vaguely visible humanoid figure about 2 meters tall approaching a patient. She believed it was the Grim Reaper, which was causing fear in her patient.
Doctor Andrea O’Connor recently shared the nurse’s strange experience on her YouTube channel. She said she had never encountered anything like this before.
O’Connor described how the nurse, while on night duty, was looking after a patient who was on the brink of death. He was being checked every 15 minutes because he was extremely afraid of dying. This anxiety and fear escalated suddenly, despite not experiencing it a month prior.
When the nurse went to check on him, she stopped at the doorway and did not enter the room because she saw a 7-foot (2.1 meters) tall black humanoid figure looming near the patient’s bed, bending over.
“She saw this shadowy figure towering over him, and she froze at the door. If you’ve never seen something like that before, your brain cannot comprehend it, and you wouldn’t expect to see such a thing,” O’Connor said.
The nurse observed that the patient had no family or friends visiting, and the situation she witnessed was truly inexplicable.
She later came back and saw the same thing again, believing that the mysterious figure was what made the patient even more frightened. The nurse later told the next shift of nurses, “I think I saw the Grim Reaper.”
O’Connor expressed her belief in the nurse’s account. Based on her experience as a doctor, medical staff often encounter unexplainable things. She mentioned hearing other reports of “shadowy figures appearing in hospital rooms.” Even her husband had seen shadowy figures in the corner of his eye.
While hallucinations can occur when tired or stressed, especially during night shifts, O’Connor fully believed the nurse’s account of seeing the Grim Reaper. The patient passed away that night.
The episode hosted by O’Connor sparked numerous comments from netizens.
One netizen who claimed to be a former intensive care nurse wrote, “In my professional career, I have seen many such things. I mostly believe nurses, doctors, and others who tell me anything. We are in professions where others cannot have these experiences.”
Another netizen said, “I have been in the healthcare field my whole life, seen strange things happen, and heard strange stories from colleagues. The Grim Reaper is a real entity. One morning, when I took over from a very trustworthy male colleague who had just finished a night shift, he was terrified.”
The netizen briefly described, “His patient saw the Grim Reaper that night, and it wasn’t the first time for that patient. The patient was known to be very unclean but had enough self-awareness to know that due to their dirty and negative lifestyle, they were often targeted by the Grim Reaper.”
The netizen mentioned that the patient believed they were slowly being tormented, as a form of punishment, and shortly after, the patient passed away.
