Chinese petitioners write to Trump, urge giving Chinese seeking freedom the opportunity to stay in the US.

A group of Chinese immigrants from the East and West Coast have written a letter to President Trump following his election, urging the Trump administration to provide opportunities for Chinese people who have fled China due to persecution by the Chinese Communist Party to stay in the United States.

The letter was initiated by Zheng Cunzhu, the Chairman of the Chinese Democratic Party Headquarters and a legal scholar. In the letter, it is stated: “We fled China mainly due to political persecution by the Chinese Communist Party regime. There, we were unable to freely express ourselves, practice our faith in God, or uphold our human rights. Our children were taught to love the Communist Party, resent America, and the civilized world. We do not wish to be enslaved, ourselves and the next generation. After facing numerous difficulties, we arrived in America, seeking freedom just like those who came on the Mayflower. This is both a divine guidance and our heartfelt choice.”

The letter expresses gratitude for being accepted into the United States. They promise to abide by the law, acknowledging that some of them arrived through illegal means, but they are eager to go through proper procedures to become members of American society, contribute to America, and hope to “repay this place that has given us a new life through hard work.”

Moreover, they aspire to become part of American communities, pledging to respect and learn American culture, strive to integrate into American society, and prove through their actions that they are trustworthy residents.

The initiator Zheng Cunzhu mentioned that this letter will be sent to the White House on the day President Trump takes office.
