On Tuesday, November 26th, President-elect Donald Trump made a statement nominating financier John Phelan as the Secretary of the Navy in the United States.
In his nomination letter, Trump wrote, “I am very honored to announce John Phelan as the next Secretary of the United States Navy! John will be a tremendous force for our Navy personnel and a steadfast leader in advancing my vision of America First. He will prioritize the interests of the American Navy.”
John Phelan is most known for co-founding MSD Capital, an investment firm managing assets for Michael Dell, as well as running a private investment company called Rugger Management based in Florida.
Although Phelan’s career has been primarily focused on finance, Trump highly appreciates his leadership ability and intelligence, stating that “John’s wisdom and leadership are unparalleled.”
