The internal rectification within the Chinese Communist Party continues, with at least 50 mid-level cadres falling from grace by the end of October this year. After being investigated while in office in October, Zhao Jinyun, former Deputy Governor of Gansu Province, had his membership in the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) revoked on Wednesday, November 27.
Public records show that the 59-year-old Zhao Jinyun served long-term in Gansu Province, having worked in the Gansu Provincial Land Management Bureau and the Department of Natural Resources. In 2018, Zhao Jinyun was the General Manager of the Reader Publication Group Co., Ltd., and by the end of 2022, he held the position of Deputy Governor of Gansu Province.
On October 25, Zhao Jinyun was investigated while in office. According to the announcement on the website of the Communist Party of China Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and National Supervisory Commission on that day, Gansu Deputy Governor Zhao Jinyun was suspected of serious violations of duty and is undergoing investigation by the National Supervisory Commission.
Following Zhao Jinyun’s downfall, the name of Bao Donghong, Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Taxation Bureau of the State Taxation Administration, was also removed from the bureau’s official website. According to reports from mainland Chinese media The Paper, Bao Donghong is in a marital relationship with Zhao Jinyun, the recently fallen Deputy Governor of Gansu Province.
