Man dies after crashing into long-standing heating pipeline across road in Shanxi.

In Shanxi’s Changzhi City, there has been a 1.3-meter-high pipeline spanning a road for many years in Qinxian County. Recently, a 57-year-old man named Zhang was killed when he collided with the heat supply pipeline while riding his bike. The family questioned the lack of any warning signs on the pipeline before the incident occurred, sparking ongoing attention and public discussion. Local authorities have issued a recent response to the incident.

Recently, netizens in Qinxian County, Shanxi, posted on the internet that on November 9th around 6 p.m., a middle-aged man collided with the heat supply pipeline while riding his bike near Nanguan Road in Qinxian County, falling and unfortunately succumbing to his injuries despite rescue efforts.

The individual who shared the video mentioned that there were no lights, signs, or surveillance at the scene, and the pipeline, hanging approximately 1.3 meters above the ground, obstructed normal passage for cyclists.

The video showed the pipeline extending from the wall on one side of the road, suspended across the roadway.

In the comments section, a netizen shared a similar experience where they almost lost their life at the same spot. “That day I almost got hit to death, saw stars, and took a while to sit up.”

On November 15, a local resident told reporters that this situation has existed for many years, requiring people to bend over while passing through normally.

Some netizens mentioned that there used to be a water channel in that location, and the pipeline likely existed for a long time. Later, the local authorities removed the water channel to repair the road, but did not adjust the pipeline promptly with the road repairs.

According to reports, multiple attempts to contact Huayang Heating Co., Ltd. in Qinxian County were unsuccessful as their phone remained unreachable. When asked about the handling of the incident and the acceptance status of the project, the staff at the Qinxian County Housing and Urban-Rural Development Administration responded that they were not aware of the details.

This incident continues to draw attention from netizens.

On November 26, the Beijing News reported that the deceased’s son stated that his father died while being transferred to another hospital. The aforementioned pipeline was only 1.3 meters above the ground, and the family questioned the lack of any warning signs on the pipeline before the incident.

The family of the deceased mentioned that the day after the incident, bloodstains from the fall could still be seen at the scene, but there were no warning signs in place.

On November 25, the head of the heating company stated that they are in negotiations with the deceased’s family regarding the incident and plan to make changes to the pipeline next year.
