Tiger Enters Village in Heilongjiang, China, Attacks People and Bites Door, Surveillance Footage Revealed

On November 18th, in Bolixian County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province, a tiger invaded a village and violently rammed the fence gate of a courtyard, causing injuries to some villagers. Residents mentioned it was the first time they had heard of a tiger entering their village.

According to reports from various mainland Chinese media outlets including Heilongjiang Radio and Television Station and Xin Huanghe, on the morning of November 18th, a tiger appeared in Jixing Village, Changtai Township, Bolixian County, Qitaihe City, Heilongjiang Province. The tiger even charged at the courtyard gate of a villager’s house, knocking down and injuring a pedestrian who was walking by, prompting villagers to stay indoors for safety.

Surveillance footage showed that around 6:08 am on November 18th, there was a deep, animalistic roar coming from a farmhouse yard, with dogs barking, followed by a large shadow swiftly passing by the door. A man in the yard informed others, “A big tiger has come.” About two minutes later, the man approached the metal fence gate of the courtyard to observe, and the large animal rushed towards him, causing a loud bang as it hit the gate, prompting the man to hastily retreat into the house.

Local residents told mainland Chinese reporters, “There was a notice within the community telling us not to go outside. Tigers are not commonly seen here, and this is the first time I’ve heard of a tiger entering the village.”

Officials from the village committee of Changtai Village confirmed that a tiger had indeed entered the village, biting a 65-year-old villager surnamed Zhao, who has been taken to the hospital. Firefighters and police are currently searching for the tiger within the village. Mr. Zhao, the son of the man injured by the tiger, mentioned that there were two tigers present during the incident.
