In breaking news, President Trump has announced the appointment of Karoline Leavitt as the new White House Press Secretary. Leavitt, who previously served as the National Press Secretary during Trump’s historic campaign, has been praised for her outstanding work, prompting Trump to express his delight in her new role.
At the young age of 27, Leavitt will become the youngest White House Press Secretary in American history, surpassing Ronald Ziegler who held the position at the age of 29 during the Nixon administration in 1969.
Taking to social media platform X, Leavitt responded, “Thank you, President Trump, for your trust in me. I am humbled and honored. Let’s make America great again (MAGA) together.”
The White House Press Secretary serves as the government’s spokesperson and typically holds daily briefings for journalists. However, Trump broke with tradition during his first term by preferring to personally handle much of the media communication through rallies, social media posts, and his own briefings, rather than delegating solely to press secretaries.
Throughout the campaign, Leavitt played a pivotal role as a spokesperson for Trump’s press team, frequently appearing on cable news to address questions from the media.
Her colleagues within the campaign team have expressed their admiration for Leavitt, noting her fearless attitude towards media challenges. She has also garnered public support from some of Trump’s allies.
Hailing from New Hampshire, Leavitt is known as a staunch supporter of Trump. Prior to joining Trump’s 2024 campaign team, she had run for Congress in New Hampshire, winning the Republican primary, but ultimately losing to the current Democratic Representative Chris Pappas.
During Trump’s first term, Leavitt had worked in the White House Press Office as a news assistant and speechwriter. Following this, she served as the Communications Director for New York Republican Representative Elise Stefanik. Trump has since appointed Stefanik as the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations.
This latest appointment by President Trump marks a significant development in his administration, as Karoline Leavitt steps into her new role as the White House Press Secretary, poised to play a crucial part in shaping communication strategies and delivering messages to the American people.
