Deng Chao, a mainland Chinese male star, starred in the new film “Winning Ticket” which recently held a preview in Shanghai. Sun Li brought her 13-year-old son, nicknamed “Deng Deng,” and her 10-year-old daughter to support him. “Deng Deng” praised the film after watching it, saying it was “the best movie that my dad has ever made.” Deng Chao humbly responded with a “thank you” and jokingly added, “Everything I did before was in vain,” sparking laughter at the event.
“Winning Ticket” is set against the backdrop of a corporate “internal struggle” game. The film tells the story of Bai Sheng (played by Deng Chao), a startup employee at a technology company who has devoted ten years of his youth to the company, only to be laid off violently. In order to win back his 8 million stock options, he must survive in the company for 100 days. Under duress, he fabricates the illusion of having the “latest cutting-edge technology” AI project and assembles the “Bubble Factory” to return to the company.
Just when Bai Sheng thought he could deceive everyone, the appearance of supervisor Zhou Wanggao (played by Zheng Yunlong) disrupted the plan, leading to a bigger scam awaiting them. In the chaotic workplace struggles, Bai Sheng maneuvers among the people: some extend olive branches, some monitor in secret, some scrutinize and make things difficult at every turn, but there are also those who stand by him, facing challenges together.
Many viewers commented that this workplace game is both frenzied and realistic, portraying sharp satire amid the exaggerated expansion of capital territories.
Deng Chao’s performance in the film not only won accolades from his son but also earned praise from his wife Sun Li, hailed as the “Queen of Mainland Drama.” She said, “On the way here just now, I felt that Mr. Deng was quite nervous, he kept rubbing his hands and his pants. Because I am also an actress, I might be more critical of his performance than others. If I saw his usual demeanor in the film, I would feel that he didn’t pass, but today I didn’t see any of that, and I could feel his original intentions before filming, so I think it’s especially great!”
Sun Li also revealed that she was afraid that watching the movie would affect her performance in the upcoming suspense series “Obsession.” She explained, “The character I’ve been playing recently is very repressed, and every day the director says I’m too cheerful, hoping I can tone it down a bit. Finally, I found a slight feeling, but after watching Mr. Deng’s ‘Winning Ticket’ today, I became cheerful again, and tomorrow I will be scolded by the director.”
Deng Chao and Sun Li, as a loving couple in the entertainment industry, have always been under scrutiny for their interactions. Their appearance as a family of four not only showcased the happiness and warmth of their family but also showed the outside world their dedication and companionship towards their children.
