In a fervent bid to appoint and select cabinet members and key personnel, the newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump (Trump), is attracting attention to the candidate question of who will become the White House spokesperson.
According to the Congressional Hill report, the following five candidates are seen as potential White House spokespersons for Trump’s return to office.
Karoline Leavitt is widely considered a front-runner, having served as chief spokesperson and messenger for Trump’s campaign team.
At 27 years old, Leavitt served as a news assistant and speechwriter during Trump’s first term. She previously worked under former White House press secretary and current Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany, then served as communications director for Rep. Elise Stefanik. Stefanik was appointed by Trump this week as the ambassador to the United Nations.
Leavitt is a candid Catholic. If selected, she would become the youngest spokesperson in White House history. Earlier this year, she welcomed a baby.
In the years following Trump’s departure from the White House, Steven Cheung has been one of his most loyal and staunch supporters.
Before joining Trump’s 2024 campaign, Cheung served as the Senior Communications Officer for the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The league is led by Trump ally Dana White.
Alina Habba previously served as the chief spokesperson for former President’s legal affairs, skyrocketing to fame during Trump’s civil fraud trial. Throughout, Habba held almost daily press briefings defending the former president and countering prosecutors.
In the weeks leading up to Election Day, Habba frequently appeared at MAGA (Make America Great Again) gatherings and other public events.
She often appeared on Fox News and other conservative media outlets, pushing back against the legal investigations facing Trump.
As a former aide to President George W. Bush, Scott Jennings is now a conservative commentator for CNN.
During the weeks leading up to the election, Jennings was a prominent figure in CNN’s coverage, engaging in debates with Democratic commentators and analysts like David Axelrod and Van Jones.
He also served as a senior advisor for the reelection campaign of outgoing Republican Senate leader Mitch McConnell.
Reportedly, Jennings has considered a position within Trump’s White House.
Jason Miller is one of Trump’s most loyal aides, having served as his chief spokesperson during the 2016 campaign. After Trump’s victory that year, he briefly served as the director of communications for the transition team.
Miller has been a contributor for CNN, Newsmax, and several other media outlets. He is a senior advisor for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and frequently appears in television broadcasts.
As a seasoned expert in political communication and information dissemination, Miller appears to be one of the most experienced candidates for selecting a White House spokesperson before Trump’s re-inauguration.
