Recently, it was revealed that the grave of the well-known Chinese singer CoCo Lee is overgrown with weeds and the fresh flowers are in disarray, sparking dissatisfaction among her fans.
CoCo Lee passed away on July 5, 2023, at the age of 48. Her family laid her to rest in the Shimenfeng Memorial Park in Wuhan, Hubei Province, where a memorial exhibition dedicated to CoCo Lee was set up for fans from all over to come and pay their respects.
On June 15 of this year marked the 30th anniversary of CoCo Lee’s debut. Her family and many fans gathered at the Shimenfeng Memorial Park in Wuhan to participate in a memorial event. It was also the day her artistic memorial sculpture was unveiled.
However, less than half a year later, news emerged that CoCo Lee’s grave is covered in weeds.
According to a report by the Nanchang Evening News on November 12, on November 11, the scene at CoCo Lee’s grave in the Shimenfeng Memorial Park in Wuhan showed overgrown weeds and a chaotic arrangement of flowers. This heartbreaking sight led many fans to express their discontent and demand a restoration to its original state.
The report mentioned that CoCo Lee’s grave was originally a picturesque place. However, the current state of the grave paints a different picture: overgrown weeds almost concealing the original steps, the pillar inscribed with “In memory of CoCo Lee” obscured, and the fresh flowers placed below in a chaotic manner, as if carelessly discarded.
This change stirred up dissatisfaction and sorrow among CoCo Lee’s fans. They took to social media to voice their criticisms, accusing the management of neglecting the maintenance of the grave site.
CoCo Lee, born in Hong Kong to a mother from Wuhan and a father from Harbin, immigrated to San Francisco, California, USA at the age of 9 and holds American citizenship.
She was the first Chinese singer to break into the international market. Her song “A Love Before Time” was nominated for Best Original Song at the 73rd Academy Awards and she was the first Chinese singer to perform at the Oscars.
