On the afternoon of October 28th, a netizen posted a video claiming that a sudden fire broke out in the Xintiandi Apartments in Jishan, Congtai District, Handan City, Hebei Province. According to the report, the fire resulted in 2 injuries and 1 fatality.
The on-site video showed the apartment building reaching over 20 floors high. Thick black smoke billowed from multiple windows on the higher floors, with several trapped residents hanging outside windows awaiting rescue.
Local netizen “Jiusi” mentioned, “It started smoking around two or so.” Another netizen, “Can Chi,” said, “This fire is serious; the traffic police have blocked off the entire street. They even towed my car parked on the side.” Some internet users also mentioned, “During the day on People’s Road, I heard many ambulances and fire trucks…”
A nearby shop owner, Mr. Wu, told “Public Concern” that the management inside the apartment building was chaotic, with hallways cluttered with goods, and electric bikes haphazardly parked in the corridors, tangling up electrical wires.
According to residents who spoke to the “Chongqing Daily,” the fire was caused by “wires in the meter room catching fire, and now there is smoke in the corridor, with firefighters ventilating the area.”
Subsequently, the Handan City Fire Rescue Brigade reported that at 13:43 on October 28th, a fire broke out in an apartment building located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Lingxi Street and Huancheng West Road in Congtai District.
