Located in Deer Park, Orange County, New York, the New Century Company will host its annual “Mid-Autumn Food and Cultural Festival” this weekend on September 14th and 15th.
Various political figures, including New York Congressman Patrick Ryan, State Senator James Skoufis, State Assemblyman Karl Brabenec, Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus, Orange County Majority Leader Thomas Faggione, and Deer Park Town Mayor Gary Spears, have sent commendations and congratulatory messages to recognize New Century’s contributions to community unity and cultural prosperity and to wish for a joyful Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.
Congressman Patrick Ryan of the 18th District of New York praised New Century’s 9th Mid-Autumn celebration in his congressional remarks, acknowledging the festival held at Jarvis Point in his district.
He stated, “The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrating the brightest full moon of the year. This traditional festival is celebrated in several Asian countries, including China, Vietnam, Taiwan, and South Korea. It symbolizes the bonds of friendship in our community and the diversity of cultures.”
Ryan highlighted that this Mid-Autumn Festival event, now in its ninth year, is the largest Asian cultural and food festival in the Hudson Valley. With the support of local businesses and community members, it attracts tens of thousands of residents from towns near and far from the Hudson Valley to celebrate friendship, family, and unity in the beautiful form of this Chinese traditional holiday.
He concluded his remarks by expressing his anticipation for New Century’s Mid-Autumn Festival to continue bringing joy and cultural diversity to the Hudson Valley community while playing a positive role in the future.
State Senator James Skoufis, in his commendation letter, praised New Century for organizing such a significant Mid-Autumn Festival event, recognizing those who dedicate time and effort to enrich the community’s cultural fabric.
Skoufis stated, “As a New York State Senator, I am proud that the New Century Mid-Autumn Festival Committee is committed to fostering local community engagement to deepen residents’ understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditional culture. I hereby declare September 15, 2024, as ‘New Century Mid-Autumn Festival Day’ for the 42nd Senate District of New York.”
Assemblyman Karl Brabenec commended the variety of art and culture that form an integral part of the community, contributing to a deeper understanding of diverse cultural values and beliefs. He emphasized that participating in the Mid-Autumn Festival provides an opportunity for the local community to come together to celebrate family and friendship.
Brabenec, representing the 98th District of New York, declared September 14, 2024, as ‘New Century Mid-Autumn Festival Day’ and encouraged residents and families to participate in this cultural event.
Orange County Executive Steven Neuhaus also declared September 14, 2024, as “New Century Mid-Autumn Festival Day” in his commendation letter.
He acknowledged the New Century Mid-Autumn Festival Committee’s dedication to promoting local community participation to deepen understanding and appreciation of Chinese traditional culture. The Mid-Autumn Festival they hold in Deer Park Town is one of the largest outdoor multicultural events in the Hudson Valley. Neuhaus expressed congratulations on the Committee’s celebration of the ninth annual festival.
Orange County Majority Leader Thomas Faggione commended New Century for its weekend festival activities. He stated, “As representatives of the Orange County legislative body, we proudly recognize the New Century Mid-Autumn Festival celebration.”
“Falling among the major traditional holidays celebrated by the Chinese community, the Mid-Autumn Festival, according to the Chinese lunar calendar, falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth month. We declare September 14 and 15, 2024, as ‘New Century Mid-Autumn Weekend’ and encourage residents, neighbors, and families to participate in this cultural event.”
Deer Park Town Mayor Gary Spears extended a message of welcome in his congratulatory letter, inviting everyone to the 2024 New Century Mid-Autumn Festival event.
