On June 21, in Wangbao Village, Sizhuang Town, Gaoping City, Shanxi Province, a restaurant house collapsed due to an explosion, leaving the scene in ruins and causing multiple injuries. According to Chinese media, 9 people were injured. However, authorities reported that 5 people were injured, with 3 of them in critical condition.
A video circulating online showed that a residential house in a village in Gaoping City, Shanxi Province collapsed, turning the entire building into ruins. The collapsed building was a two-story structure.
On the 21st, Gaoping City in Shanxi Province reported that around 7:50 a.m., a village house in Wangbao Village, Sizhuang Town, Gaoping City collapsed, trapping 5 people. By 10:30 a.m., all trapped individuals were evacuated and sent to the hospital, with 3 of the 5 sustaining serious injuries.
The report did not disclose details about the cause of the house collapse.
According to state-run Xinhua News Agency, the preliminary cause of the incident is believed to be an explosion of a dimethyl ether gas tank.
A villager from Wangbao Village disclosed that the incident occurred around 7:40 a.m., with casualties reported on the scene. “It was a restaurant famous for its ‘big plate chicken,’ and I am quite familiar with the people inside.”
It was reported that around 11 a.m., a staff member from the Emergency Department of Gaoping City People’s Hospital stated that the hospital had received 9 individuals, all of whom had been admitted for treatment.
The Gaoping City Emergency Management Bureau confirmed the incident, stating that the exact cause of the accident and the situation at the scene are currently unclear.
