New drama debut featuring Chen Guanlin running wildly, Huang Shaoqi plays a young man with his hairstyle.

Taiwanese drama “Wish” starring Huang Shaoqi, Jiang Hongen, and Chen Guanlin held a press conference on the 20th. The story begins with the memories of the three characters in their youth, with Huang Shaoqi starting off carrying the 80-kilogram Chen Guanlin on his back in a scene about fleeing.

The three actors, now in their fifties, are most concerned about how to portray their younger selves in flashback scenes. Huang Shaoqi jokingly mentioned they can only start with hairstyles, young with bangs, and then slicked back for older age, while Chen Guanlin uses his voice to convey youth.

Inevitably, the youth storyline involves action scenes, and Jiang Hongen expressed concerns about the weather during filming and the physicality of the fight sequences. He joked about the difficulty in stamina with age, but Huang Shaoqi praised Jiang’s performance, saying he fights well despite his age.

In the drama, Huang Shaoqi plays the eldest of the three friends and joked about the challenge of running with the injured Chen Guanlin on his back to evade pursuit. He shared that carrying 80 kilograms was truly testing, leaving him out of breath and feeling his bones shaking after the scenes.

Filming in remote mountain areas posed challenges, with scenes shot inside a car on narrow winding roads. Huang Shaoqi, who normally experiences motion sickness, found the filming experience tough but rewarding, likening it to boot camp training.

In the storyline, all three actors – Huang Shaoqi, Jiang Hongen, and Chen Guanlin – have young adult children. Huang Shaoqi joked about his on-screen wife’s muscular physique, indicating she must have hit the gym regularly. Jiang Hongen’s partner is Liu Xiaoyi, who aspires to be a CEO’s wife. Chen Guanlin’s on-screen wife is Liao Yiqiao, with amusing incidents on set where they jokingly called her character’s name “Biyu” to avoid confusion.

Huang Shaoqi prepared for the performance by sticking to a daily diet of salads and chicken breasts. He joked about indulging in the U.S. before filming began, working hard to get in shape and impressively dropping from 82 to 76 kilograms in a week, earning admiration for his discipline from his co-stars.
