Anhui girl confirmed killed days after disappearance, suspect is neighbor from the same building.

In Anhui, a 6-year-old girl who had been missing for several days was confirmed to have been killed, and a suspect has been arrested. This incident has garnered widespread attention from the public, frequently appearing on hot search lists.

On April 6th, the Yue Xi police in Anqing, Anhui, reported that the missing 6-year-old girl, Wang Pei, was unfortunately killed, and the suspect, Liu, was captured. On the evening of the same day, when the suspect was brought to the scene to reenact the crime, a large number of local residents gathered to watch.

According to a previous report by China National Radio, the girl and her family lived in a three-story house along the street in Changpu Town, Yuexi County, Anhui. The first floor of the building housed tea shops, stationery stores, and other commercial spaces, while the second and third floors were residential areas.

Local villagers mentioned that the girl went missing around 8 p.m. on March 31st. At that time, Wang Pei’s mother planned to return to their ancestral village in Changle with the keys, and asked Wang Pei to go upstairs to fetch the keys before the mother drove away.

On that night, Wang Pei was still holding her mother’s old phone without a sim card, only able to play with WiFi, which she treasured dearly.

The ancestral village was about a 20-minute drive from where the girl and her mother lived, and upon the mother’s return, she found her daughter missing.

Their house was surrounded by a large expanse of rice fields, and the way home required passing through an alley. The mother searched along the alley several times but couldn’t find her daughter. She then went outside to look but still couldn’t find her. By the time she called the police, more than half an hour had passed.

Once the girl disappeared into the alley, she was nowhere to be found. The surveillance cameras at either end of the alley did not capture her, and there were no cameras inside the alley.

On April 4th, the girl’s phone was found near a vegetable field close to where the incident occurred, thrown into a drain full of tall grass, with mud still clinging to the phone case.

As reported by Red Star News, on the evening of April 6th, when contacted, the girl’s father responded, “Let’s just follow the updates in the report,” then hung up the phone, unwilling to comment further.

According to the Beijing News, nearby residents mentioned that Liu and the victim’s family lived in the same building. Liu’s husband worked outside, leaving her alone to care for their two children. She often interacted with the victim’s mother, and there were no known conflicts between the two families.

There are allegations that two days before the girl went missing, the children from both families were playing together, and Liu’s child fell and injured their face during a scuffle. Liu believed that the fall was caused by the girl from Wang’s family. However, Wang Pei’s father insisted on reviewing the surveillance footage, confirming that Liu’s child fell on their own. He thought the matter was resolved, but Liu held a grudge.

This case of “acquaintance committing the crime” whereby the suspect is also a mother has sparked unease and outrage among the public.
