Chinese basketball star Guo Ailun is suspected of being defrauded of nearly ten million yuan by an acquaintance, and his family has reported the incident to the police.
According to a report by “Zhibo Ba” on April 6, sources revealed that the fraudster was a close friend of Guo Ailun, who lured him to transfer nearly ten million yuan under the guise of “investment and shareholding.” After receiving the money, the friend disappeared, and the whereabouts of the funds are unknown. Currently, the public security authorities have opened a case on this matter.
On the morning of April 6, “Guo Ailun defrauded of ten million” surged to the top of the hot search rankings.
Guo Ailun, 32 years old, was born in Liaoyang, Liaoning. In 2010, he joined Liaoning team and later won four CBA championships for Liaoning team, as well as two national games championships, gradually becoming a key guard for the Chinese men’s basketball team.
In the summer of 2024, Guo Ailun left Liaoning team where he had played for 14 years, and transferred to the Guangzhou Long Lions team. In February 2025, he suffered an injury to his right eye during training, requiring more than 40 stitches and forcing him to rest at home. In March of this year, he suffered a severe injury with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during a game against Shandong men’s basketball team.
This time, being defrauded of ten million yuan adds to the series of misfortunes that have befallen him.
It is worth mentioning that in 2021, Guo Ailun starred in an anti-fraud propaganda short film as an anti-fraud ambassador. Little did he know that a few years later he would become a victim of fraud himself.
