The 26-year-old internet celebrity and boxer, Ah Niu (real name Tian Yan Ying), passed away due to a combination of cerebral hemorrhage and acute leukemia. He left behind a one-year-old child.
According to reports from multiple mainland Chinese media outlets, Ah Niu’s wife, Mrs. Zeng, shared that Ah Niu initially only had bleeding gums. Later, it was suspected that his gums had ruptured. After stitching up the wound, he started running a low-grade fever, experiencing shoulder pain, and feeling weak a few days later. Around 2 a.m. on April 2nd, he was found unconscious by friends and rushed to the hospital. It was confirmed that he had cerebral hemorrhage and acute leukemia, and despite efforts to save him, he passed away on April 4th.
Mrs. Zeng and Ah Niu have a one-year-old child together. She expressed that Ah Niu’s sudden death has been unbearable for her.
Ah Niu was born in Lincang, Yunnan, and had won several regional boxing championships. Mrs. Zeng mentioned that his dream was to be a boxer, and through his dedication to the sport, he gradually established a gym in Guangzhou. The future of the gym remains uncertain, and currently, Ah Niu has been laid to rest in his hometown in Yunnan.
In recent years, several mainland Chinese internet celebrities have passed away. Recently, 41-year-old education influencer Zhang Xuefeng passed away from sudden cardiac death. Following this incident, hospitals specializing in cardiology in Shanghai, Sichuan, Shenzhen, and Changsha saw an influx of young adults seeking medical consultations, most of whom are under 40 years old and engage in late-night activities or high-intensity exercise regularly.
Internet users have expressed their sorrow, stating comments like, “People don’t only die when they are old, death can come at any time and place,” “I’ve noticed that there have been many sudden deaths in recent years. It’s only the beginning of 2026, and many people have already passed away,” “The key is those in their thirties and forties who have achieved something,” “When ordinary people die, you wouldn’t even know. Many people pass away every day, they are just not reported.”
Some users have questioned, “Why have there been so many deaths in recent years, and why do they all happen so suddenly?” Some speculate, “It might be related to the new coronavirus vaccine,” “Water pollution is even scarier than the new coronavirus vaccine,” “Staying up late has become our number one enemy, especially late-night phone use.”
