Mainland SF Express delivery packaging exchanged with blood stains attracts attention.

Recently, an incident involving a suspected blood contamination of a delivery related to SF Express has sparked public attention and become a hot topic on social media.

According to a netizen who recently exposed the incident, a friend received a parcel of noodles, including rice noodles, from Henan. Upon receiving the package, they found the external packaging damaged, the food in disarray, and the plastic bag stained with a red liquid that smelled of blood.

The netizen stated that the food was sent out on April 1st and received on April 3rd. Upon inspection, they discovered the food items inside the parcel were disorganized, and the plastic wrap of the rice noodles was covered in an unidentified red liquid. Initially, they thought it was seasoning spilled, but upon closer inspection, they realized it was a bloody smell, leaving their hands sticky.

After comparing the received parcel with the original one sent by their friend, they contacted SF Express customer service and were informed that the parcel was repackaged at the Zhengzhou Garden Expo Transfer Center because a package containing blood for transportation had been damaged, contaminating their parcel.

The netizen questioned SF Express for replacing the package without the consent of the sender or recipient and failing to inform them about the contamination during transit, which they believed violated relevant laws and regulations. They demanded SF Express disclose the source of the blood contaminating their parcel.

Images shared by the netizen showed blood staining the inner packaging of the opened parcel. According to the logistics information provided, the parcel was sorted and transferred at the Zhengzhou Garden Expo Transfer Center from 3:12 AM to 4:48 AM on April 2nd.

In an attempt to clarify the situation, “Xiaoxiang Morning News” contacted the SF Express Zhengzhou Garden Expo Transfer Center, where staff mentioned that they had assigned personnel to follow up on the matter but could not provide further details at the moment. Subsequently, they reached out to SF Express customer service, who stated they would verify the incident and respond to the journalists. As of the time of writing, no response had been received.

An opinion article by “Modern Express,” titled “How Many Secrets Are Hidden in a Blood-Stained Delivery?” criticized SF Express, a leading company in the delivery industry, for such an egregious incident, highlighting not only management loopholes but also serious violations of delivery management regulations.

By exchanging the package without the customer’s consent, SF Express may have violated laws and regulations. Even in cases where the package needs to be replaced due to contamination, SF Express should have promptly informed the sender, obtained consent, and followed proper procedures instead of secretly replacing it. Such unauthorized actions not only infringe upon customers’ rights to information and property but also pose risks such as item switching and privacy breaches, contradicting the fundamental principles of delivery services.

A deeper concern is that SF Express transporting prohibited items has created significant safety hazards. Blood is classified as an infectious and transmissible substance, listed as a prohibited item for ordinary deliveries. Special-purpose transportation of such items requires professional channels, strict approvals, and special protective measures. The suspected irregular acceptance of the blood package, along with improper packaging leading to leakage and contamination of other parcels, poses a health threat to delivery personnel, recipients, and others if the blood carries infectious pathogens. In this incident, SF Express exhibited a dual dereliction of duty in parcel acceptance inspection and transportation management.

According to public information, SF Express was founded in Shunde, Guangdong in 1993 and is currently headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Its business covers 335 cities in mainland China and over 200 countries and regions globally, making it the largest express company in China and Asia, and the fourth largest globally.
