Mainland China’s “Long March 3” Carrier Rocket Fails Launch Again

On April 3rd, the launch of the “Tianlong 3” large liquid carrier rocket developed by Beijing Tianbing Technology failed again, causing a stir on social media and sparking discussions among netizens.

At 12:17 on April 3rd, the Tianlong 3 large liquid carrier rocket launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center, experienced abnormal flight and the launch mission ended in failure.

Netizens were quick to react to this news. User “futiaojin” commented: “Hasn’t it failed once on June 30, 2024? Is this another failure?”

Following the failure of the Tianlong 3 carrier rocket launch, the commercial aerospace sector weakened in the afternoon of April 3rd. Zhongheng Design hit the limit down, Feiwo Technology fell more than 10% intraday, Zhongchao Holdings fell more than 9% intraday, Shenzhen Jian Stock, Guanglian Airlines, Julishuojv, and Aerospace Hongtu all followed the downward trend.

According to public information, Tianlong 3 is a large liquid carrier rocket independently developed by Beijing Tianbing Technology Co., Ltd. for the construction of the Chinese satellite internet constellation. It has a total length of 72 meters, a diameter of 3.8 meters, and a liftoff weight of about 600 tons.

On June 30, 2024, several videos showing “rocket falling, exploding, and catching fire” circulated on mainland social media. That evening, Beijing Tianbing Aerospace Technology Co., Ltd. reported that during the test run of the Tianlong 3 liquid carrier rocket, a structural failure occurred at the connection between the rocket body and the test stand. A booster rocket detached from the launch pad, and after liftoff, the onboard computer shut down automatically, causing the rocket to fall into the mountains 1.5 kilometers southwest of the test stand, where it disintegrated upon impact.
