Guangxi Taxi Driver Detained for Confrontation with Traffic Police Sparks Controversy

On April 1st, a 56-year-old taxi driver in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province, drove over a hundred meters with a traffic police officer on the hood of his car before being detained.

According to reports by Jiemu News, a video showing a taxi driving with a uniformed person on the hood circulated widely in a WeChat group for taxi drivers in Liuzhou, Guangxi.

The video depicts a taxi colliding with a man in uniform on the road, causing shock and alarm among onlookers.

Liunan Sub-bureau of Liuzhou Public Security Bureau announced on their official WeChat account that around 11 a.m. that day, during an inspection near Nanzhan Road in Liunan District, the 56-year-old taxi driver, surnamed Huang, refused to cooperate and drove with a traffic police officer on the hood for over a hundred meters, resulting in injuries to the officer. Huang has been criminally detained. However, the announcement did not specify further details.
