Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) arrested dozens of protesters who refused to leave the “No Kings” gathering on March 28.
According to LAPD on March 29, after issuing a dispersal order, a total of 75 people were arrested, including 66 adults and 8 minors; one person was also arrested for allegedly possessing a short sword or dagger during the protest.
Authorities stated that there were no reports of casualties during the entire arrest operation.
The riot took place outside the Edward R. Roybal Federal Building in downtown Los Angeles, about 2 miles south of Dodger Stadium.
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that initially around 1,000 people gathered outside the building and chaos ensued, leading law enforcement to initiate dispersal actions.
DHS posted on X platform on March 28: “Some protesters threw rocks, bottles, and chunks of cement at officers, two officers hit by cement chunks received medical treatment.”
DHS also confirmed that at least 2 individuals were arrested for allegedly attacking federal law enforcement officers and face serious charges.
On the same day, in Denver, Colorado, during the “No Kings” protest, 9 people were arrested, including one for “throwing objects.” Most arrests occurred after a small group of protesters blocked roads and refused to disperse.
Denver Police Department stated on X platform: “The police declared the gathering unlawful and used smoke to disperse the crowd after multiple orders to disperse were given.”
Across the United States, over 3,100 “No Kings” demonstrations were held on the 28th. Participants mainly expressed opposition to President Donald Trump’s policies, including dissatisfaction with Iran-related policies and immigration enforcement actions in Minnesota.
