Shanxi Top Three Hospitals’ CT Reports for Male Patients Include Uterine Descriptions.

Recently, at the affiliated Heping Hospital of Shanxi Changzhi Medical College, a medical error occurred where a CT report incorrectly diagnosed a male patient as having a “normal uterine morphology,” sparking public attention.

A complaint from a woman has been circulating on the internet recently, stating that her husband received a CT report from Heping Hospital of Shanxi Changzhi Medical College indicating “normal uterine morphology and density” after undergoing an examination.

According to the report by the Xinjing News, the male patient surnamed Wei picked up his CT report on March 28th. Apart from the description of the examined area, the report contained a description of a “uterus” completely inconsistent with male anatomy. The family immediately lodged a complaint with the hospital and uploaded relevant evidence online.

On March 30th, in response to this “blunder,” the Heping Hospital of Shanxi Changzhi Medical College issued an official statement. The hospital admitted that there was a problem of “lax review” in issuing the CT report for the patient. The hospital has suspended the relevant staff involved.

The incident has sparked heated discussions among netizens.

User “BanBanMiaoLa” remarked: Failure to promptly correct such erroneous reports may cause psychological harm and trust crisis to the examinee and their family, revealing inadequacies in the hospital’s system construction, personnel responsibility, and emphasis on sexual health education.

Some netizens have also questioned whether this hospital is a “makeshift operation.”

Public records show that the Heping Hospital of Shanxi Changzhi Medical College was established in 1946, formerly known as the renowned “Baicao’en International Peace Hospital General Hospital of the Jin-Ji-Lu-Yu Military Region.” The hospital became one of the first to pass the evaluation of a tertiary Grade A hospital in 1995 and is an important medical teaching center in the local area.
