On March 28th (last Saturday), a unique marathon event called the “2026 Seoul Stroller Run” was held in Seoul, South Korea, from Gwanghwamun Square to Yeouido Park, attracting thousands of families to participate. Along the route, passersby waved and cheered for parents and children, creating a warm and spectacular scene.
This special event tailored for families with infants and young children was organized by the Seoul City Government for the third time after May 2025, aiming to showcase Seoul as a “child-friendly city”. This edition of the event set a record in scale in South Korea, with approximately 5,000 families and 20,000 people gathering on the streets of downtown Seoul. Young parents either pushed strollers or held hands with their children, walking or running together, enjoying quality parent-child time to the fullest.
The marathon covered a total distance of 8 kilometers. To ensure the safety of the event, the organizers divided participating families into three groups: the “Rabbit Group” for those running while pushing strollers, the “Turtle Group” for those walking slowly while pushing strollers, and the “Stroller Graduates Group” for parents holding hands with children below elementary school age.
In addition to the running aspect, popular activities were also available at the starting point and finishing line. These included a stroller decoration area, an eco-friendly sticker activity, a photo wall for finishing certification, personalized medal engraving services, and most notably, the highly popular “Parent-child Coffee Shop on the Go” was expanded to twice its original size, making the event site bustling with excitement and activity.
