The Chinese Communist Party has not made any official announcements regarding the incident. Some netizens mentioned that an article was published and later retracted by the public account “Urban Scene,” which is currently unsearchable. Screenshots indicate that the report mentioned, “A construction vehicle went out of control and entered the market.” “The eyewitness recalled that the incident occurred around 11 a.m. on the morning of the 29th. The road where the incident took place was originally closed, but the construction vehicle seemed to have crashed through the barrier. The driver involved is said to be in their 50s and has been taken into custody by the police.”
Both Douyin and WeChat’s video platforms have blocked any content related to this incident. As of 7:40 p.m. Beijing time, reporters from Dajiyuan could not find relevant information online in mainland China. Searching for “Dahan Jida Market” on Douyin yielded no results.
A local Beijing resident told reporters that it was a “very malicious retaliatory social incident,” but then added, “Do not join the crowd, do not spread rumors.”
Another local resident said to the Dajiyuan reporter, “Let’s not spread this. I really don’t know the specifics, but I heard it was a very severe traffic accident. A large construction vehicle or truck barged in and ran over people, injuring quite a few. I heard it from a friend; initially, there were videos on Douyin, but they disappeared soon after, and you couldn’t download them. It’s just hearsay for me; I saw a video on Douyin.”
In a comment section on Douyin, a person claimed that eight people had died, but this information could not be verified.
Overseas, many Chinese netizens are discussing this incident on X platform.
Former mainland petitioner Yin Dengzhen said, “This is the largest vegetable market in Fangshan District! Many villagers here have been forced to relocate by the government, and it is also the most densely populated area for petitioners.”
Some netizens commented, “If seeking revenge on society, go after the Communist Party (referring to the derogatory term ‘Communist bandit’). The real troublemakers are the Communist Party. Going after them could be seen as revolutionary heroism, while targeting ordinary individuals would be labeled as terrorism. Moreover, the Communist Party doesn’t care if common people are targeted.”
“Recently, there have been quite a few incidents similar to the ‘Zhang Xianzhong event.'”
“The chaos has spread to Beijing, but let’s not target regular people.”
“Every crime has its perpetrator, why not target Chinese Communist Party government officials directly.”
