Easter Storytime Arrives in South Bay: Families Gather to Hunt Easter Eggs

To welcome the spring Easter season, the Golden Mountain Bay Area Overseas Chinese Education Center organized a “Storytime Chinese Storytelling and Easter Egg Hunt” event on Thursday, March 26th. The event attracted many overseas Chinese families who enthusiastically participated. The Director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, Wu Zhixiang, and the Director of the Overseas Chinese Education Center, Zhuang Yashu, joined in the fun with parents and children, creating a lively and warm atmosphere.

In her speech, Zhuang Yashu mentioned that the Overseas Chinese Education Center has been promoting the Storytime activities since 2022. With the efforts of the coordinator Ivy and the volunteer team, the program has entered its fourth year, having organized 50 events and attracting over 1,000 families, making it a popular community event.

Zhuang Yashu mentioned in an interview that Storytime not only serves as a platform for reading promotion but has also become an important venue for parents to exchange parenting experiences. She looks forward to attracting more families to visit the Overseas Chinese Education Center in the future, to experience quality facilities and cultural activities, and to further deepen the connection within the overseas Chinese community.

Wu Zhixiang interacted with the children in a relaxed and humorous manner, joking that he came to “listen to stories and find Easter eggs.” He reminded the children to focus on listening to the stories first before embarking on the egg hunt.

Wu Zhixiang emphasized that such activities not only allow children overseas to be exposed to Taiwanese culture but also help to strengthen the emotional bond within the overseas Chinese community. He encouraged young parents in the Bay Area to participate more actively and pass down Taiwanese culture and memories to the next generation through interactions.

The theme of the stories on that day was “I Don’t Want to Be a Little Bunny Anymore!” and the beloved “Teacher Cat” Lee Naya was specially invited to lead the storytelling in a vivid manner, immersing the children in a world of rich imagination and adding highlights to the event. In addition, there were interactive singing and dancing activities arranged on-site for parents and children to participate in together.

During the event, the center prepared 300 colorful eggs, each containing exquisite small gifts. Children excitedly roamed around the library with various baskets, eagerly searching for the hidden treasures, while parents busily took photos and guided their children to find the eggs, creating a lively atmosphere on-site.
