Exclusive Interview with Rights Activist Entrepreneur Shen Qijia: I Have Already Rebelled Personally

Chinese human rights entrepreneur Shen Qijia recently released a video condemning the Communist Party for blocking his live broadcasts, recounting his illegal detention by the government and the seizure of over 4 million yuan in assets, sparking public attention. Shen recently shared his personal experience with Epoch Times, emphasizing that after suffering great harm, he has “seen through it all” and gained a deeper understanding of the nature of the CCP. He stressed, “I have already rebelled.”

Shen Qijia, also known as “Thunder,” is 64 years old and a Christian from Yuanbao District, Dandong City, Liaoning Province, China. He had founded Yinglian Chuang Industrial Development Co., Ltd. in Shenzhen, and in 2000, one of the company’s subsidiaries, “Daughter’s Home Shopping Plaza,” was sealed by the government of Baoan District in Shenzhen, with Shen being detained for 118 days on charges of “false capital reporting” and “fraud.” Due to the prosecution not approving the arrest, he was eventually released.

After his release, Shen Qijia requested the authorities to return all his seized assets, but no action was taken. He petitioned for 26 years, more than 300 times, only receiving over 10,000 yuan in state compensation, with Shenzhen public security returning 900,000 yuan and Baoan District government returning 200,000 yuan, leaving most of the money unresolved.

Angered by the situation, Shen Qijia recently released a video condemning the Communist Party for blocking his internet live broadcasts. “I was so angry, what do I have to fear?” Shen said in an interview on March 25, expressing his frustration.

He criticized the Communist Party regime for not providing justice to the people and lacking dignity. Shen highlighted the government’s propaganda efforts while citizens flood the national petition office in Beijing every day, showcasing the society’s ugliest aspects.

Shen Qijia recounted the challenges he faced in starting his business and the unjust oppression he endured. In 1997, he arrived in Shenzhen with ambitions to build a business, starting from street vendors to physical stores, eventually accumulating some capital to open a shopping mall with three floors. However, his troubles began when government authorities confiscated a large number of video game machines, which were eventually sold after Shen had spent money on repairs.

During his struggles, Shen Qijia faced arbitrary detention multiple times, with accusations changing from large-scale fraud to false reporting of registered capital and false investment. Despite being released after 118 days due to lack of arrest approval, his business suffered significant losses and even family assets were auctioned off by courts.

Shen Qijia’s relentless petitions to reclaim his assets resulted in partial compensations from authorities, but the majority of his losses remain unresolved. Disillusioned by the injustices he faced from the government, Shen has become a vocal critic of the CCP, emphasizing the lack of justice, human rights, and freedom in China.

Shen Qijia’s refusal to stay silent about his experiences has led to further retaliation from authorities, including the blocking of his live broadcasts and social media accounts. Undeterred, Shen remains determined to speak out against the injustices he endured and expose the true nature of the Communist Party’s regime.

In his quest for justice, Shen Qijia has faced not only financial hardships but also limitations on his freedom of speech and a continuous battle against government censorship. Despite facing numerous challenges and setbacks, Shen’s unwavering resolve to stand up against the injustices inflicted upon him by the CCP serves as a testament to his courage and determination in seeking accountability and justice.

Shen’s journey from a successful entrepreneur to a relentless activist against the Communist Party’s abuses reflects the larger struggle faced by many Chinese citizens who dare to challenge the authoritarian regime. As he continues his fight for justice, Shen’s story shines a light on the ongoing human rights violations and suppression of dissent in China, underscoring the urgent need for freedom, transparency, and accountability in the country.
