The Northern California Tamkang Alumni Association Holds Annual Meeting and President Handover

The Northern California Tamkang University Alumni Association held its annual dinner and president handover ceremony on March 21st in Santa Clara, attracting nearly a hundred alumni and guests to attend with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere was warm and lively, showcasing the camaraderie and teamwork among the alumni.

The Northern California Alumni Association was founded in 1991 and has a strong sense of solidarity. In 2020, a Line group with nearly a hundred members was established to facilitate communication and successfully promote various activities.

The event commenced with a speech by outgoing president Lin Fengjiao. She first extended her new year wishes to the guests and alumni, wishing everyone good fortune and good health in the Year of the Horse. Lin Fengjiao expressed gratitude for the grand gathering of the annual meeting, attributing it to the efforts and generous support of past presidents and alumni who tirelessly invited and supported the event through donations, sponsorships, and inviting family and friends, demonstrating the deep friendship and unity among Tamkang alumni.

She shared anecdotes from the preparation process, mentioning a former president who not only made donations but also actively assisted in inviting guests, ensuring the event achieved a comprehensive representation of people, emotions, and resources, fully embodying the spirit of “unity is strength” within the alumni association.

Lin Fengjiao expressed special thanks to the service team and past presidents for their assistance, acknowledging former president Long Fengzi for continuing to serve as secretary general after stepping down, providing full support for the association’s operations. She stated her commitment to continuing this tradition and assisting the new president in promoting the development of the association in the future.

Subsequently, the president handover ceremony took place, with the new president Chen Peilan officially taking office. In her address, Chen Peilan mentioned her rejoining the alumni association in 2024 and gradually becoming familiar with the association’s affairs under the leadership and support of former president Lin Fengjiao and the team, feeling the warmth of the alumni association like a “home”. She expressed gratitude for the trust and assistance from the board and past presidents that allowed her to smoothly assume the important role.

Chen Peilan told Dajiyuan that she will continue to promote alumni exchanges and community services in the future, including planning online health seminars in April, outdoor barbecue activities in August, and participation in various intercollegiate activities and events. At the same time, she will actively engage young alumni to strengthen organizational continuity and vitality.

The event also invited several overseas and official representatives to attend, including Guo Huizhen, director of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco, as the witness, as well as Director Yan Hongwei, Director of the Taiwan Trade Center Liu Meizhi, and Deputy Director Cai Jiahua from the South Bay Overseas Education Center, all present to support and witness this important moment in the inheritance of the association’s affairs.
