Trump’s Envoy: Hopeful to Convince Iran to Sign Peace Agreement

On Thursday, March 26, American special envoy Steve Witkoff stated that there are “strong indications” that Iran may sign a peace agreement with the United States. He confirmed that Washington has sent a 15-point peace ceasefire plan to Iran through intermediary Pakistan.

Witkoff, speaking at a cabinet meeting in the White House on Thursday, said, “We will wait and see how the situation develops. If we can make Iran believe – this is their turning point – that there is no better choice than signing a peace agreement, apart from more death and destruction, then we have strong indications that it is possible.”

The American envoy accused Iran of trying to “delay negotiations” and repeatedly rejecting America’s requests for talks. However, he also mentioned that Iran is seeking a “path” to end the war.

Witkoff added that the U.S. is engaging in “multi-party contacts” with several countries in the Middle East and other parties interested in ending the conflict.

He also mentioned that Iran has informed American negotiators that they possess enough enriched uranium to build 11 atomic bombs, weighing approximately 460 kilograms.

Witkoff revealed on Thursday that following President Trump’s 48-hour threat to Iran on social media last Saturday, Iran actively contacted him. The President had stated that unless Iran opened the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours and ensured unobstructed navigation, he would begin bombing Iran’s infrastructure, starting with the largest power plants.

He further noted that U.S. officials concluded after the last round of U.S.-Iran talks that Iran was not serious about negotiations. This belief prompted President Trump, his national security team, and advisors to continue attacking Iran, referred to as the “Epic Wrath Operation.”

President Trump declared in the cabinet meeting that Iran’s actions are coming to an end, emphasizing that Iran’s military capabilities have been severely undermined.

“We are thoroughly destroying Iran. They have been defeated and cannot make a comeback,” Trump said. “They now have the opportunity to reach an agreement, but it depends on them.”

The President highlighted, “We have completely destroyed Iran’s navy and air force, as well as 90% of Iran’s missiles and missile launchers.”

“We are destroying Iran’s drones and missile factories, and will continue to do so,” he said. “We are dismantling Iran.”

“They (Iranian leadership) tell their people this is a disaster. They are also aware of this. That’s why they are negotiating with us, or else they wouldn’t be negotiating. They have been defeated and cannot turn the tide. If they reach a suitable agreement, the Hormuz Strait will reopen,” Trump stated.
