In Liaoyang, Liaoning province, a dog named “Bench” has recently gained popularity online. The reason behind this is that eight years ago, after receiving a shot at a local pet hospital, it has been visiting the hospital every day, standing at the entrance and barking at the doctors to express its dissatisfaction, unwaveringly for the past eight years.
A viral video shows “Bench” barking at the entrance of a pet hospital, “woof, woof, woof…” but receiving no response. It then turns towards the street, barking as if trying to convey its grievances to passersby.
According to reports from mainland China media, the dog’s owner stated that eight years ago, “Bench” received a shot at this hospital. Since then, without fail, it goes out three times a day, heading straight to the hospital’s entrance in the morning, afternoon, and evening.
As for how long it barks, it all depends on its mood. If it’s full, it might bark longer; if it’s hungry, it will bark quickly a couple of times and then go back home. But it always barks a couple of times when passing by.
This is not an isolated case. In 2023, a Teddy dog in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, after being neutered, went to the pet store entrance to make a scene at least three times a day.
In 2021, a dog in Changsha continuously visited the pet hospital entrance for several months to “complain”, possibly feeling heartbroken due to being neutered.
Netizens have been joking about the situation, saying, “There’s no one to complain to, so it had to visit the hospital to uphold its rights for eight years.” “It’s not just barking, it’s expressing its grievances.” “A dog’s life is only about a dozen years, and most of it is spent at hospitals fighting for its rights.” “The owner should bring out some chicken legs to appease it, offer an apology, and laugh off the grievances!”
