Eyewitnesses recalled that at the exhibition venue, many parents brought their children to watch the robot’s dance performance. There was insufficient safety barrier around the stage and no staff reminding the audience to maintain a safe distance.
During the performance, the robot suddenly swung its arm, slapping the face of a boy watching up close. The boy did not dodge in time and after being hit, the robot continued with its routine without stopping. The video footage shows the child stunned for a few seconds, appearing upset afterwards, with the parents immediately checking on their child’s condition.
