Recently, the well-known Chinese children’s educational digital content brand “BabyBus” has been fined 300,000 yuan (RMB) for displaying vulgar advertisements on its children’s app.
According to a report by the official Chinese media CCTV on March 17th, BabyBus Co., Ltd. was fined 300,000 yuan by the Market Supervision Administration of Cangshan District, Fuzhou for displaying vulgar advertisements on its children’s app, and 3.68 yuan of illegal income was confiscated.
It was reported that on March 17, 2025, BabyBus signed a “Mobile Advertising Alliance Member Service Agreement” with an information technology company in Shenzhen, integrating its mobile app advertising resources through SDK with “MiMeng”.
During the operation of the “BabyBus Nursery Rhymes” app (a platform for children’s audio and video playback), BabyBus employees did not timely review the advertising content pushed by their partners, leading to the display of vulgar text and image advertisements on the children’s app.
In October 2025, netizens reported that the splash screen advertisements in the children’s application “BabyBus Nursery Rhymes” redirected to pages containing vulgar text and suggestive live broadcasts. The ads had hidden close buttons, which could lead children to accidentally download unknown software or access inappropriate websites.
A concerned netizen mentioned that recently, several unfamiliar apps appeared inexplicably on the phone primarily used by their child, possibly due to accidental clicks on advertisements within the app. Children may inadvertently enter inappropriate pages or download irrelevant software due to difficulty in identifying ad redirection options, potentially being exposed to harmful guidance.
At that time, a reporter from Jiupai News contacted BabyBus’s official customer service as a user. The customer service stated that the advertising on BabyBus is placed by a third-party platform and that the official team has made efforts in screening and supervision but occasional oversights are inevitable.
Public records show that BabyBus’s business scope includes developing cartoon games, creating digital cultural and creative software, and producing digital content services. They have released over 200 apps, more than 4500 episodes of children’s song animations, and over 16,000 episodes of traditional Chinese stories.
