New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade Makes Grand Appearance on Fifth Avenue

On March 17, the New York St. Patrick’s Day Parade took place in a grand manner on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue. The parade kicked off from 44th Street, heading north along Fifth Avenue, passing the St. Patrick’s Cathedral located at 50th Street, and continued all the way to 79th Street.

The St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City is the oldest and largest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the world. The first St. Patrick’s Day parade in New York City was held in 1762, making it a tradition with over 250 years of history in the city. Visitors from around the world also gather here to celebrate this traditional holiday. The number of participants each year can even reach up to a million.

This Irish tradition, the annual grand parade, is now in its 265th year. Tens of thousands of people dressed in Irish green or elements of shamrocks, waving Irish flags, filled both sides of Fifth Avenue in Manhattan from 44th Street to 79th Street, cheering and celebrating. From marching bands and drum corps to elegantly dressed dance troupes, Midtown Manhattan was transformed into a sea of green revelry.
