US Missile Accidentally Hits Bahrain Community? US Military: Blamed on Iran

In response to the accusations made by Russian and Iranian media that the U.S. military’s “Patriot” missile mistakenly hit a residential area in Bahrain, the U.S. Central Command issued a strong statement on Monday morning (March 9th), labeling these claims as “lies” and instead pointing the finger at Iranian drones as the real culprits behind the injuries of 32 civilians in the area.

Prior to this, reports from Russia’s Sputnik and Iran’s Tasnim News Agency cited sources alleging that the U.S. deployed Patriot missile system in the Gulf region malfunctioned while intercepting Iranian drones or missiles, causing debris to hit a residential area in Bahrain and resulting in severe damage.

The U.S. Central Command swiftly responded on its official platform through a “fact-check” format, contrasting “LIE” and “TRUTH” in large headlines. The Command’s statement refuted the claims of the U.S. missile mistakenly hitting the target as completely divorced from reality.

The Central Command cited information from the Bahraini government, confirming that the actual scenario involved an Iranian-launched drone directly attacking the residential area in Bahrain. The statement read, “Fact: An Iranian drone attacked the residential area, leading to 32 Bahraini civilians being injured, including several children requiring medical treatment.”

This incident occurred amidst heightened military tensions between Iran, the U.S., and Israel. Given that Bahrain hosts the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command, the region has become a frontline for air defense interception.

Analysts believe that Russian and Iranian media’s dissemination of the “U.S. missile misfire” news aims to undermine the reputation of American-made air defense weapons and sow fear among Middle Eastern allies. In the early stages of the downing of Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752 by the Iranian air defense system in 2020, Iranian authorities adamantly denied the accusations, attributing them to Western media’s “psychological warfare,” only to later admit the truth when confronted with concrete evidence.

Currently, due to the escalating conflicts and airspace closures, the entire Persian Gulf region faces severe challenges in terms of both traffic and humanitarian conditions.
