Foreign Objects Found in Rice: Trader Joe’s Issuing Recall on Frozen Ready-to-Eat Meals

Trader Joe’s, a beloved food store among the Chinese community, issued a product recall notice again this week. The reason behind it is the contamination of four frozen ready-to-eat products with glass particles. So far, 36 million pounds of products have been recalled.

According to the official announcement from Trader Joe’s, the four contaminated products are as follows: chicken fried rice with best-by dates ranging from March 4, 2026, to February 10, 2027; vegetable fried rice with best-by dates between February 28, 2026, and November 19, 2026; Japanese fried rice with best-by dates from February 28, 2026, to November 14, 2026; and chicken potstickers with best-by dates from March 13, 2026, to October 23, 2026.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture stated on Tuesday (March 3rd) that Trader Joe’s has significantly expanded the recall scope for potentially glass-contaminated products, recalling over 36 million pounds of products nationwide. Various ready-to-eat and frozen products like chicken and pork fried rice, ramen, and potstickers are being removed from shelves.

Trader Joe’s emphasizes, “If you have any of the mentioned products, please do not consume them. Dispose of the products or return them to any Trader Joe’s store for a full refund.”

The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) of the U.S. Department of Agriculture expressed concerns that “some of the products may still be in retailers’ or consumers’ refrigerators.” They urge “consumers who have purchased these products not to consume them; the products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.”

Less than two weeks ago, Trader Joe’s announced a recall of over 3 million pounds of frozen chicken fried rice. Previously, the FSIS stated that they had received four complaints regarding “glass particles found in the products.” However, there have been no reports of injuries from consuming the fried rice. Individuals who are concerned should contact their doctor.
