Senior Veteran of the Communist Party of China, Song Ping, Passes Away.

During the convening of the two sessions of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), veteran CCP leader Song Ping passed away at the age of 109.

According to reports from Xinhua News Agency and multiple official CCP media outlets, Song Ping passed away at 15:36 on March 4, 2026 in Beijing due to ineffective medical treatment.

Public records show that Song Ping was born in April 1917 in Juxian County, Shandong Province, and joined the CCP in December 1937. He served as a member of the 11th, 12th, and 13th Central Committees of the CCP, a member of the 13th Politburo of the CCP, and a standing committee member of the 13th Politburo of the CCP. He also held the position of Minister of the Organization Department of the CCP Central Committee.

As a former member of the Politburo of the Central Committee, Song Ping was regarded as an elder statesman within the CCP.
