Saudi Arabia and Qatar Condemn Iran’s Attack on US Embassy

Saudi Arabia and Qatar issued statements on Tuesday (March 3), condemning Iran’s drone attack on the US embassy.

“The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia expresses its strongest rejection and condemnation of the treacherous Iranian attack. The attack targeted the US embassy building in Riyadh,” the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement posted on the social platform X earlier on Tuesday.

“According to preliminary estimates, the US embassy in Riyadh was attacked by two drones, resulting in limited fire to the building and causing minor material damage,” the Saudi Ministry of Defense stated on X platform on Monday night.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also condemned Iran’s attack on the US embassies in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.

“Qatar strongly condemns Iran’s attack on the US embassies in Riyadh and Kuwait, considering it a blatant violation of international conventions and laws,” the statement said.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that Iran’s attacks on these two embassies violate international agreements and diplomatic norms, which categorize attacks on diplomatic missions as criminal acts and grant immunity to embassy premises and personnel.

“The Ministry reiterates that Qatar fully supports the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait in taking all necessary measures to safeguard their security and territorial integrity,” the statement added.

Since the massive strikes by the US and Israel on Iran last Saturday (February 28), Iran has initiated retaliatory attacks. The targets include not only military bases of Israel and the US in the Middle East but also airports, ports, hotels, and residential buildings in Gulf countries, prompting condemnation from various nations. Several Gulf countries are considering deploying air forces to launch offensive strikes against Iran.

On Tuesday, Iran continued its drone and missile attacks. Foreign diplomatic sources confirmed to Fox News that the US consulate near Dubai was hit by an Iranian drone attack on Tuesday, causing a fire. Currently, there are no reports of casualties.
