Melania Trump, the First Lady of the United States, hosted a meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Monday, March 3rd, where she delivered a speech emphasizing that “peace does not have to be weakness.” She urged global leaders to prioritize the development of education and technology to create lasting global security.
During the meeting, the Security Council focused on issues concerning children, technology, and education in conflict areas, as reported by United Nations officials and the White House. The United States assumed the rotating presidency of the Security Council for the month of March, with Melania Trump being the first spouse of a sitting national leader to preside over such a meeting.
Melania Trump stated at the Security Council that “lasting peace can only be achieved when knowledge and understanding are fully valued by all societies.” She emphasized that nations that value learning will strive to protect their books, languages, sciences, and mathematics, enabling their children to gain deeper comprehension, moral reasoning, and inclusivity regardless of their location, religion, race, or gender.
She highlighted the challenges faced by children growing up in cultures of ignorance, where disorder and conflict often prevail. Melania Trump underscored that the lack of quality global education would hinder humanity from making groundbreaking advancements in medicine, food security, and technology. Therefore, societies guided by knowledge and wisdom are inherently more peaceful.
Speaking about technological advancements, the First Lady mentioned how technology is revolutionizing traditional educational models, creating new realities for children. She specifically noted the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain in shaping the future. The emergence of a single digital nation may not be a far-fetched concept, given the transformative impact of blockchain-based digital currencies and payment systems, along with AI’s vast databases on media and finance markets.
Melania Trump expressed, “We are living in an imaginative era – an era where technology can evolve freely, unrestricted by borders. Indeed, it is our generation’s key moment to lead the next generation beyond the shackles of ideology through the inheritance of wisdom.”
She believed that AI could contribute to building a safer, more harmonious civilization. “The path to peace depends on whether we take responsibility to empower our next generation through education and technology.”
In her speech, Melania Trump also addressed the ongoing conflict in Iran, offering sincere condolences to the families of fallen heroes and the sacrifices made by the U.S. military for freedom. She acknowledged that their bravery and dedication would be forever remembered.
Additionally, the First Lady wished for the speedy recovery of all the wounded, stating, “In this difficult time, I stand with you and pray for you. American children and children worldwide stand united. I hope peace will soon come to your doorstep.”
According to data from the U.S. Central Command, as of March 2nd, in the “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran, six U.S. military personnel have been killed, with 18 others seriously injured.
