The US military’s arsenal of powerful weapons has always fascinated military enthusiasts. The US Central Command confirmed on Sunday (March 1st) that in the “Operation Epic Fury” launched against Iran last Saturday, the US military deployed B-2 stealth bombers to attack Iran’s fortified missile facilities.
The B-2 bomber is one of the world’s unmatched and most powerful precision attack weapons, with an excellent stealth design.
The US Central Command said on social media platform X on Sunday, “Last night, the US B-2 stealth bomber carried 2,000-pound bombs and attacked Iran’s fortified ballistic missile facilities. No country should doubt America’s determination.” The Central Command also attached a video of the B-2 bomber taking off.
The B-2 Spirit stealth bomber is developed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Northrop Grumman, and is a strategic bomber capable of penetrating deep into enemy territory and breaking through high-intensity air defense systems using its stealth technology.
The aircraft features a tailless flying wing design and stealth coatings, with a maximum range of 6,000 nautical miles (approximately 11,100 kilometers) and global strike capability. It can carry two GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs weighing up to 30,000 pounds (about 13.6 tons), accurately destroying underground core facilities buried hundreds to thousands of feet below rock layers.
The B-2’s long range and aerial refueling capability allow it to launch from the US mainland and strike any global theater of operation. In the “Operation Midnight Hammer” launched by the US military against Iran’s nuclear facilities in June last year, seven stealth B-2 bombers were used. These bombers dropped 14 Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs (each weighing 30,000 pounds) on Iran’s two nuclear facilities, Fordow and Natanz, and launched Tomahawk cruise missiles at the Isfahan nuclear facility. This operation also marked the first time the US military used Massive Ordnance Penetrator bombs.
US Secretary of Defense Haggses posted on social platform X last Saturday, saying that “Operation Epic Fury” is the most lethal, complex, and precise air strike operation in history.
