On Saturday afternoon (February 28th), the White House released photos of President Trump and his national security team monitoring Iranian airstrikes at the Mar-a-Lago estate, as well as Vice President Pence monitoring the situation in the White House Situation Room.
The photos showed a room with black curtains, with Trump sitting alongside White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and CIA Director John Ratcliffe. Trump’s deputy chief of staff Dan Scavino was also present in the room.
Several phones were placed on the center table, with a map of the region displayed on the bulletin board behind Trump, with “Operation Epic Fury” written in the lower right corner.
In other photos shared by the White House, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, pointing at the map, could be seen. Vice President J.D. Pence also appeared in photos from the White House Situation Room, participating in a conference call with Trump and other members of the national security team.
Pence spent the evening in the Situation Room with National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard, Energy Secretary Chris Wright, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bennett.
The United States and Israel launched the largest strike on Iran in decades on Saturday. Trump stated that the strike aimed to put an end to Iran’s decades-long threat and ensure that they cannot develop nuclear weapons.
